What DOTA really is..FUNCTIONS

DotA can be played in a variety of different modes and each game name tells you exactly
what that game will be. There’s a pretty overwhelming amount of information in some of
those game names, so we’ll go over it once piece at a time, from top to bottom. Everything
we’ll cover has been underlined in red. At the top of the screen are those two arrows, which
simply refresh the list of games. If you don’t see the type of game you want, hit the refresh
button and see if one comes up.

• ap stands for “all pick,” which means that you can choose any hero you wish to play.
• apem stands for “all pick, easy mode,” which is almost the same as ap, but the game will
give you more money to use, and your hero will become stronger more quickly.
• banlists are lists that people use to keep track of certain people they don’t want to play
with. Beginners should avoid these games, because those people usually aren’t tolerant of
inexperienced players.
• ar stands for “all random” which means that everyone is given a random hero to play with
(arem is simply ar with “easy mode” enabled). This mode isn’t recommended until
you’re comfortable with most of the heroes, but it’s a lot of fun once you are.
• 4v4 undefeated is going to be a bit challenging of a game. One team is probably a group
of four friends, which is why they’re not playing a 5v5 game. Best to avoid this one.
• Noobs please is likely to be a beginner-friendly game, it’s best to start with games like
this if you can find them.
• dmarem is “deathmatch, all random, easy mode,” which means that every time someone
dies they get a different random hero. It’s a pretty popular mode, but even more difficult
than ap or ar.
• usa/ca means that the host only wants players from the U.S. and Canada, in order to
minimize lag (command delay) in the game. Other country codes of note are BR for
Brazil, RU for Russia, SG for Singapore, etc. It’s a good idea to learn your country code.
That’s certainly a lot to try and remember, but it was only meant as an example of the
different types of things you’ll encounter in games. As a beginning player, look for ap games,
preferably with beginners only as well.

Beyond Imagination

Beyond Imagination

Puck - Faerie Dragon
Range: 600 Move Speed: 295
Primary: INT
Str: 15 + 1.7 Agi: 22 + 1.7 Int: 25 + 2.4
Damage: 38 - 49 HP: 435 Mana: 325
HP Regen: Mana Regen:
Attack Speed: Armor: 2

Illusory Orb (R)
Sends a magic orb flying down a straight path damaging everything in its way. At any time during the life of the orb
the Faerie Dragon may teleport up to it, taking its place. 1800 Range, 225 AOE.
Level 1 - Deals 70 damage.
Level 2 - Deals 140 damage.
Level 3 - Deals 210 damage.
Level 4 - Deals 280 damage.
Mana Cost:
Cooldown: 15
Comment: Your signature skill. With this you can harass, chase, escape, creep, aoe damage or relocate yourself. Basically you aim this skill and it will send a magical orb flying to that direction and at any time you can press E for Ethereal Jaunt to teleport to that location for a minor manacost. More about this later.

Wanning Rift (W)
Releases Puck's mystical faeire dust around him dealing damage and silencing enemies. 400 AOE.
Level 1 - Deals 60 damage and Silences for 0.1 seconds.
Level 2 - Deals 120 damage and Silences for 1 second.
Level 3 - Deals 180 damage and Silences for 2 seconds.
Level 4 - Deals 240 damage and Silences for 3 seconds.
Mana Cost: 100/110/120/130
Cooldown: 10
Comment: Another great skill. decent damage, low-ish manacost and cooldown and decent AoE silence at last rank. You will love this one too, but I strongly suggest you to take at least of one rank of Phase shift before this unless you're overwhelmingly confident you won't get killed.

Phase Shift (F)

Shifts the Faerie Dragon out of existence for a brief period, temporarily avoiding any further damage.
Level 1 - Up to 0.75 seconds.
Level 2 - Up to 1.5 seconds.
Level 3 - Up to 2.25 seconds.
Level 4 - Up to 3 seconds.
Mana Cost: 50/40/30/20
Cooldown: 6
Comment: Like the Ignis Fatuus ability, this will make you unattackable for a period of time. This is great for protecting yourself especially when you're waiting for your cooldowns. You can break the PS effect at any time by casting a spell or ordering Puck to move or attack. You can easily target targeted spells and items when using this skill.

Dream Coil (C)
Puck's powerful imagination engulfs an area, creating coils of volatile magic that damages and stuns enemy units as it latches on to them. Stretching the coils beyond 600 range causes it to snap and deal additional damage and stun time. Lasts 5 seconds.
Level 1 - Initial: 100 damage and 0.5 seconds stun. Coil Break: 100 damage and 1.5 seconds stun.
Level 2 - Initial: 150 damage and 0.5 seconds stun. Coil Break: 150 damage and 2.25 seconds stun.
Level 3 - Initial: 200 damage and 0.5 seconds stun. Coil Break: 200 damage and 3 seconds stun. Mana Cost: 100/150/200
Cooldown: 85
Comment: As a tip of the iceberg you have this. It's primary function is to immobilize enemies withing it's Aoe with a rupture-like idea - Either they stand still waiting until it's over or ignore it and suffer. Not as potent as rupture, of course, but the low cooldown, low manacost and fact that it's easily targeted AoE make up to it. Be sure to aim it well.
